Thank You GRT Riders!

 This contest has finished, thank you to all who entered! 

 

ION and Grand River Transit (GRT) are working together on a new campaign thanking GRT riders for their patience during ION LRT construction and the resulting GRT detours. A number of GRT buses will feature "Thank You" advertisements that encourage riders to enter a contest for a chance to win a gift certificate redeemable for a GRT monthly pass.

  

This Contest is open to anyone residing in the Region of Waterloo, Ontario. This Contest commences January 25, 2016 and closes at 11:59 p.m. (ET) on July 29, 2016.

 

 

Entry:

 

1. To enter the contest, spot the "Thank You" interior bus advertisement on select GRT buses

 

2. Take a photo of the ad and tweet it to ION's twitter handle (@rideIONrt) using the hashtag #IONtheway, or email it to RTinfo@regionofwaterloo.ca.

 

3.  A week for the purposes of these Rules and Regulations shall be from Monday to Friday (a "Week"). To be eligible, all entries each Week must be received no later than 11:59 p.m. (ET) on the last day of each Week, being Friday.

 

4. No purchase, expenditure or investment is necessary to enter this Contest.

 

5. Employees of the Region and their immediate families are not eligible for Prizes in the Contest.

#TweetyourreceiptWR

 

This campaign encourages local residents and visitors to shop at businesses along the ION corridor (#IONbiz) and tweet a photo of their receipt with the #tweetyourreceiptWR hashtag to the ION twitter handle

 

Leading up to the 2016 holiday season, each receipt tweeted to ION will be entered into a new grand prize draw. Two winners will be selected on December 19 to win a $250 Downtown Kitchener BIA gift certificate or UpTown Waterloo BIA gift certificate.

 

 

The grand prize contest will run until December 19, the winners will be announced via twitter.

"Thank You Campaign" Additional Rules and Regulations:

 

This Contest is being held by The Regional Municipality of Waterloo (the "Region"), owner and operator of ION Rapid Transit ("ION") and Grand River Transit.  Any questions with respect to this Contest should be directed to Scott McNair, Communications and Community Relations Coordinator by email at SMcNair@regionofwaterloo.ca.

Eligibility:

Participation in this Contest is open to anyone currently residing in the Region of Waterloo, Ontario.

Prize Information:

 There will be one (1) prize awarded each week of this Contest. The prize is a Gift Certificate, redeemable for a GRT monthly pass. The successful entrant can accept the Gift Certificate, which has an approximate retail value of $79.00 (CDN), or opt for a pizza lunch of the same value (the "Prize"). The Prize is NOT transferable or convertible to cash. The Gift Certificate may only be redeemed at the Charles Street or Ainslie Street Transit Terminal for the purchase of a GRT monthly pass. GRT is not responsible for replacing the Gift Certificate if it is lost, stolen, destroyed or used without your knowledge or consent. Should the successful entrant opt for the pizza lunch, they will be presented with a gift certificate for a pizza establishment. 

Winner Selection:

 1. With regard to the Prize, a random draw, by a representative of the Region, from all valid entries received will take place on the 1st day of the following week, being Monday, at Rapid Transit, 50 Queen Street N, Kitchener, Ontario N2H 6P4. The selected winner will be notified by 4:30 p.m. (ET) on the 1st day of the following Week, being Monday,  via Twitter and asked to privately message ION via Twitter with their email address and telephone number on or before the third business day after the Week in which they won the Prize, being Wednesday.

 2. In order to receive the Prize, the selected entrant must correctly answer, unaided, a time- limited, mathematical skill-testing question when they arrive to claim their Prize. This will be done at a mutually convenient time, before the entrant will be declared the winner.

 3. In the event that the selected entrant incorrectly answers the skill testing question, another entrant will be randomly selected for the applicable Prize. 

 4. The Region's rulings on the winner are final and without appeal in all matters related to this Contest and the awarding of the Prize.

 5. With regard to the Prize, if the selected entrant cannot be reached by the third business day of the Week immediately after the Week for which they have won the GRT monthly pass, being Wednesday, or declines the Prize, another entrant will be selected.

 6. Chances of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received. The Region is unaware of how many entries there may be.

 7. The winner must go to the following Redemption Office during the hours indicated and present identification to redeem their GRT monthly pass:

Additional Rules and Regulations

 1. Before being declared a winner, the selected entrant will be required to sign a waiver and release releasing and holding the Region harmless in relation to the Contest  and consenting to the use of his/her entry, name, city of residence and/or photograph in any publicity carried out by the Region, including, without limitation, Social Media without further compensation as a condition to and in advance of receiving the Prize, or the Prize will be forfeited.

 2. The Region takes no responsibility for lost, misdirected, late, incomplete, illegible, destroyed or deleted entries or for failure of the social networking sites during the Contest period, for any problems or technical malfunction or any telephone network lines, computer online systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any email or traffic congestion on the internet or at any Web site, or any combination thereof including any injury or damage to an entrant's  or any other person's computer related to or resulting from using or downloading any material in this Contest.  Any attempt to undermine the legitimate operation of this Contest is a violation of criminal and civil laws, and should such an attempt be made, the Region reserves the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law, including criminal prosecution.

 3. The Prize must be accepted as awarded and is non-refundable, non-transferable, may not be exchanged or substituted, must be taken in its entirety and is non-redeemable for any cash value.

 4. This Contest is subject to all federal, provincial and municipal laws.

 5. Each entrant agrees to abide by all Contest rules and will be deemed to have reviewed and understood the rules if they participate in this Contest. 

 6. The Region is not responsible for printing, distribution, or production errors and may terminate or withdraw this Contest at any time without prior notice.
